Things that make Rory tick

Rory is a designer who works at OgilvyOne London as head of design. He likes to post things that may or may not include:

music, design, photography, art, digital media, social media, film, everyday snaps, inspirations from Africa, maybe some humour, a little politics...

...and he's bound to moan sometimes.

OK, quite a lot.

Braille Burger campaign for Wimpy South Africa spreads the news of their braille menu in a really sweet way

Wimpy wanted to let visually impaired people know that they offered braille menus in all of their restaurants. To spread the word we built braille burgers that blind people could actually read. With the help of skilled chefs we took sesame seeds and meticulously placed them on burger buns so that the seeds formed braille.

A wooden ball rolls down a track in a forest to great effect for a Japanese mobile company advert

Japanese mobile phone company Docomo has created this wonderful advert featuring a linear musical instrument designed by Drill Inc. A wooden ball rolls slowly along a seemingly endless track of wooden blocks in a tranquil forest creating a xylophone effect. Great photography. Beautiful product.

The Proteas' Kit Launch in Feb is pretty embarrassing for Adidas & the film company

I've been looking at a few adverts for the Cricket World Cup that came from the big brands. Nike and Adidas have some decent ads but then I stumbled upon this.

The promo video edit for the launch of The Proteas kit before the World Cup. The amateur portrayal of the event, the music and editing of the video is cringeworthy. Surely a more polished and professional package could have been put together?

This little guy finally finds the Force in this wonderful car ad: Volkswagen - The Force. #StarWars

There's a Soldier in All of Us - an adrenaline inducing ad for Call of Duty: Black Ops

The first commercial for Call of Duty: Black Ops - There's a Soldier in All of Us moves beyond the in-game graphics and instead depicts the wide demographic of gamers swapping their real-world playing environment for the dramatization of the warzone game world. Featuring Kobe "Mamba" Bryant and Jimmy "Proud n00b" Kimmel.
